Norflurazepam
Norflurazepam What is Norflurazepam ?
Norflurazepam, also known as N-Desalkylflurazepam, is an experimental compound belonging to the benzodiazepine family of chemicals. Although only little is known about the substance, it has been said to be an active metabolite of other, more well known, benzodiazepines such as Flurazepam and Flitazolam.
One interesting feature of Norflurazepam is its long half-life (40 – 250 hours [1]) and reasonably high potency. Because of the long half-life, some researchers have reported a ‘stacking effect’, meaning the substance seems stronger upon subsequent use, even when used over 24 hours apart.
No formal studies have been conducted on the substance, but many anecdotal reports indicate that Norflurazepam has the same potency as Diazepam, one of the most widely used benzodiazepines.

Due to the lack of research on Norflurazepam, little is known about its exact mechanism of action. However, because we know it to be an active metabolite of other, more heavily researched, benzodiazepines, we can assume it to have the same mechanism of action.
Substances of the Benzodiazepine class cross the blood-brain barrier and bind to the Benzodiazepine receptors found on post-synaptic nerve endings. Benzodiazepine receptors, along with GABA(gamma-aminobutyric acid) receptors, inhibit Central Nervous System activity, causing the sedative, anti-convulsive, and muscle relaxing properties of Benzodiazepines.
Norflurazepam indiscriminately binds to benzodiazepine receptor subtypes and, unlike more conventional benzodiazepines, is highly prone to accumulation (due to the long half-life stated above).
Note: Norflurazepam isn’t approved for human consumption, it is for laboratory-based usage. To avoid any accidental contamination always wear gloves and goggles when handling, as it can absorb harmful amounts of chemicals through the skin.Very little is known about this compound and researchers should proceed with caution, especially when it comes to accumulation.
