Diclazepam is a chemical from the benzodiazepine class that means it will contain a benzene ring that is fused to a diazepam ring, this is a seven membered ring with two nitrogen constituents located at R1 and R4. Diclazepam contains an oxygen group that is double bonded to R2 of its diazepam ring to form a ketone. This oxygen substitute is seen and shared with other benzodiazepines that have the Suffix Azepam.
Benzodiazepines work by binding to the benzodiazepine receptor site and magnifying the efficiency and effects of the neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid also known as ‘GABA’.
